Charnwood Listeners

Our listeners are carefully matched to the individuals’ needs from our bank of trained volunteer Listeners. Our Listeners come from a wealth of different backgrounds and experiences. They consist of individuals who have worked as Pharmacists, Nurses, Forensic Scientists, P.A, Special Needs Support Teacher, Counsellor, Speech and Language Therapist, Carer, Community Volunteer, hospitality and banking. We have both male and female listeners.
All our listeners have also undergone training to be able to listen at a practitioner level which instils high principles of care, respect, dignity and empathy through active, reflective listening.
We meet regularly to keep our skills up to date and for ongoing training.
All listeners volunteer their skills and time and come under the direct supervision of our lead international trainer from Listening matters, to ensure consistency and high standards of care. Additionally, we are fully supported by and adhere to the safeguarding procedures of Emmanuel Church ensuring a robust framework is in place to protect both those we listen to and our volunteers.
