Charnwood Listeners

A chance to talk and be heard

Charnwood Listeners is a free, confidential listening service for anyone 16 years of age or over in the Charnwood area who needs to talk. We use active, reflective listening practices for either one-off sessions or a block of 5 sessions. Sessions are typically between 40 mins-1 hour. We offer a safe space with time to think and talk free from judgement, and to facilitate a way for individuals to feel empowered in their choices. We offer both face to face and telephone appointments. We do not offer counselling.

All Listeners undergo regular training from Listening Matters and are accountable to the lead supervisor to maintain good practice.

Self referrals can be made here:

What others say about us:

“A life changing and liberating service that changed my life in so many ways!!!”

“The sessions were incredibly helpful at helping me to organise what was going on in my head and hearing it back and the questions asked really helped me to recognise and amend my own issues. The sessions were professional, eye opening and helped me to recognise that I can overcome my own problems and I am capable and strong.”

Charnwood Listeners were a very important source of support in my time of deep stress, it was so beneficial to be able to talk through my anxieties with someone who would listen and not offer advice. This experience has enabled me to clarify my thoughts and feelings and plan a hopeful and joyful future.

“I found the way in which (named listener) recapped on the previous session really helpful as I was able to recognise how I am progressing. She was a very empathetic listener and I looked forward to our times together.”

“Listening was an absolute life saver for me – I’m a huge fan.” P.H
